SUMMARY:History Study Group
DESCRIPTION:We will be reading and discussing Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe.\nJean McConville\, a thirty-eight-year-old mother of ten\, was dragged from her Belfast home in December of 1972\, never to be seen alive again. A climate of fear and paranoia meant no one would speak of it\, even though everyone knew who did it. \nModern history\, crime\, Northern Ireland. Join us for this discussion in areas we have not before ventured! Read as much of the book as you wish\, we will take you even if you don’t finish it all. We are reading the entire book for May.

SUMMARY:History Study Group
DESCRIPTION:Our new book is The Sea Wolves: A History of the Vikings (2014) by Lars Brownworth. This book can be purchased in paperback for around $14\, but an ebook is only $5. For the 21st we will read through the first part\, “The Raiders.” Since this may be confusing for some readers\, we want to make it clear that this book is not about The Raiders; it is about The Vikings. The former are a West Coast bunch that couldn’t even raise a billion for a new home. And our boys…well\, let’s just say\, “Go Vikings!” \n

SUMMARY:Philosophy Study Group
DESCRIPTION:  \nWe will continue our discussion of the book\, An Aristotelian Account of Induction: Creating Something from Nothing by Louis Groarke\, by reading chapter 3. In this chapter\, the author\, having finished his survey and critique of concepts of induction falling between Aristotle and contemporary philosophy\, starts to dig deeper into what Aristotle regarded as inductive reasoning. We are hoping that reading this will induce you to reason seriously about coming to our meeting so that we can induct you into our membership. Deductively\, it’s a no-brainer.
