Our new book is 1491: New Revelations of the Americas before Columbus (2006) by Charles C. Mann. This book can be had for around $15 in paperback and $14 as an ebook. For the 16^th we will read the first five chapters. The author uses recent research to upset many of the assumptions that people have had about Native Americans before the arrival of European explorers.

You will not be upset, however, by reading and discussing this book with the literate, intelligent, witty, cosmopolitan, friendly, gracious, and good-looking folks who show up at our meetings. And you could be one of them by just coming.
