We will start reading Midnight’s Furies: the Deadly Legacy of India’s Partition (2015) by Nisid Hajari. This book, selected as one of the books of the year by NPR, is available in paperback for less than $15 (Amazon has it listed for $6.50) and as an ebook for $10. We will discuss the first half of the book (through chapter 5) on the 18th. While reading it will probably not put one in a good mood, it should shed some light on Pakistan today and the current difficulties the U.S. has in dealing with it. Should be some fun reading. Bonne lecture.
