A History of Philosophy in the 20th Century

We will begin reading A History of Philosophy in the Twentieth Century (2001) by Christian Delacampagne. The paperback version retails for around $28 ($23 on Amazon), but there are used books available for less. There is no ebook edition for this title. For the 11^th we will read through Part I.

What is unique about this book is that it self-consciously considers the political influences at play in the development of the philosophical positions taken by twentieth century philosophers, claiming that “[p]hilosophy is essentially a political activity.” Whether you agree with that or not after finishing the book is, of course, an open question. Maybe we’ll vote on it.
