Evelyn Klein will discuss how and why this book came about in the course of her teaching English, language arts and world languages for many years. In order to be successful both in expository and creative writing, students needed a solid base of skills. By introducing students to the essentials of the English language in an easy-to-understand format, they met with considerable success.

In this book that can serve both as text or reference, Part One introduces students to the story of English which helps dispel many language myths and misconceptions. Part Two sets forward an updated approach to studying grammar and sentence structure. The material in this book also offers the necessary preparation for second language and ESL study. Books will be available. Evelyn Klein has lived most of her life in Minnesota. She has a B.S. in Secondary Education and an M.S. in the Teaching of English. She taught in the public schools for many years, at Century College, and The Loft Literary Center and presents programs on writing-related topics to interested groups and organizations. A prize-winning poet, she has published poetry and articles in numerous publications. She is author of four books, variously, of poetry, essays, and illustrations, three of which have found their way into the Minnesota Historical Society’s permanent library collection. Power Behind Your Writing: What Every Writer Needs to Know is her latest book.
